It isn't finished yet and ends when you enter the prison and it blacks out.
Each area is divided up to test different methods:
* The first room uses a "loud bang" sound to simulate a fallen painting once the player exits the room. (This will require surround sound.)
* The next room tests the players" patience" by triggering a "looping phone ringing" sound that plays after 30 seconds.
* The third test uses "silence" as the player walks down a narrow corridor with many doors.
* The previous tests set up this next one by forcing the player to navigate to an elevator where it will black out and the sound of a woman crying is played so that the player will recognise it whenever it is used again. Afterwards, the player will exit and a scary woman will appear in front of the player and let out a loud scream. (Now that the player recognises the connection to the crying sound, they should display some sort of fear whenever it is re-used.)
* The next room relaxes the player with a cooldown and simply triggers a few milk cartons to fall off the surface. Hopefully the player will notice this and investigate as there is a key that unlocks the door to the bedroom.
* The bedroom simply surprises the player with a blackout and a loud noise.
* The player is then teleported to an alternative version of the same room in order to see how that affects the player and the sounds. (There will be looping noises to create an atmosphere.)
* A door will eventually open revealing a deep hole and as soon as the player goes near it, a light behind them will break and looping footsteps will trick the player into thinking someone or something is coming. This will test whether the player waits to see who appears or whether they feel safer by jumping into the unknown hole.
* The player will teleport to an unfamiliar environment (prison) and will follow a voice the the other side where they will see a man whose back is facing them. He will say that "She is coming" and the familiar "crying" will trigger to unsettle the player. Eventually the flashlight will turn off and the man will whisper "help me" which will result in the player turning around and being attacked by the ghost woman in the elevator.
* The player will teleport back to the apartment building but they will be on a new floor. They will have to decide which path to take as the corridors fork out, however one has a strange sound coming from it and the other is silent. This will test whether the player will think the developer is tricking them or whether the strange sound will cause them to avoid it.
* Eventually the player will reach a sewer tunnel that is small and takes a while to crawl through. The sound of something chasing them from behind will trigger and it will see whether the player will face the threat or run.
I would like to hear your feedback on the test and whether you have better suggestions for testing sound. After our discussion I was worried because there are many ways to test sound such as your idea to have a sound that is far away and one that is close.
